So Gail has been going on and on about all the splendid forest walks she enjoyed in the Puget Sound area over Christmas and New Year.
Apparently the trees were bigger than here, the ferns and mosses more abundant, the fungi slimier and the stream crossings more challenging.
Soon I'd heard quite enough, and it was time to go out for a walk and remind Gail that we have lovely woodlands here in Aberdeenshire too.
And there's still one thing we do even better than Washington state...
MUD!!

ReplyDeleteWell demonstrated, Nobby lad... hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx
oh yes, you have super fabulous forests... is that a jelly mushroom? it looks tasty somehow...
ReplyDeleteLovely forests on both sides of the world.
ReplyDeleteYour forest is just beautiful with so many incredible finds, Nobby! I bet you got a bath when you got back home.
ReplyDeletewe might need to give you a Nick Name. Mud Dauber comes to mind. you wear your mud so very well. your woods are wonderful, and right out your back door. The Northwest is stunning to me, even though I only see it in movies and photos. the ferns and the large trees are just beyond amazing.
ReplyDeleteSimply gorgeous forests in the Pacific NW. I know Gail enjoyed her walks and talks with Marse.
ReplyDeleteNobby, recently SHE (mom to Dui da Scottie Roxy) recently told me Dui had to have a 'severe' clipping of the furs on his undercarriage. While on his EMW, his mates decided making some mud puddin' would be fun . Being vertically challenged, it is difficult for him to keep his undercarriage clean. He really doesn't care but SHE does. Roxy, on the other hand, is a wash and wear no frills girl.
Hugs Cecilia
And don't forget your perilous peaks, Nobby! The PNW has some lovely walks, but on all "my" walks with Gail, I've seen that Scotland is unparalleled in its beauty.
ReplyDeleteWe think you proved your point, Nobby. Unfortunately, we bet there was a bath in your future after that walk. BOL!
ReplyDeleteNobby ~ I am so glad I found you on Mind's Eye ~ adorable photos of you and lovely nature shots too ~ hugs,
ReplyDeleteWishing you good health, laughter and love in your days,

Some very interesting orange fungus you have in Gail's holiday snaps there Nobby, but your mud is definitely the muddier, stickier, more pervasive variety than the rest of us suffer.
ReplyDeleteYou make a valid point Nobby, although I do hear Mama saying there is just something awe inspiring about walking through a Pacific Northwest forest.
ReplyDeleteOf course she has never visited one of your forests before!
xoxo,
Sunny and Rosy
That might be true, Nobby, but keep in mind that Washington gets a LOT of rain, really a LOT. We think the mud at times might rival yours. We always enjoy YOUR walks through the beautiful Aberdeenshire.
ReplyDeleteWoos - Lightning, Misty, and Timber
That is all true but the downside is the place is filled with Americans
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful series of pictures from both sides of the pond.
ReplyDeleteAnd we think you must have had a good dunk in a bathtub after all that mudpie business....
Every place is a little bit special----but we think any place you are in, Nobby, is extra special!!!
