At least it stopped raining for a short while...

It doesn't take long for the Gail and Nobby household to start suffering from cabin fever.

Once the Storm Babet deluge had subsided on Friday, Gail decided we'd stroll down to the mouth of the harbour and check out the sea state.

Not a bad idea although, to be honest, it's not the most thrilling walk.

I busied myself by picking up random bits of litter en route while Gail tried (without much success) to capture on camera a short-lived rainbow.

We passed the offshore supply bases and it soon became clear that the rain might have stopped but there was no let up in the gale force winds. The waves had all but submerged the outer barrier to the harbour.

The fact that it was VERY BRAVE of me to 'pose nicely' for the camera in this particular spot might not be obvious from the still photograph.

But I think you'll see my point if you watch this wee video...

The rain returned with a vengeance on Saturday...

  2. wow, that wind could easily blow you off the cliff and into that wild surf! I would not stand there myself, even though i weigh considerly more than you. hope the rain goes away today to allow for wandering in the places you both love.... i could hear that wind in the video..

  3. The sea sure looks angry and thank goodness you're on a leash and can't blow away, Nobby!

  4. You look very smart in your red raincoat, Nobby. That sea is fantastic, and the photo of the lighthouse is spectacular.
It's much cooler here today and the temperature is already 7ÂșC cooler than it was this time yesterday. It won't be long before I shall insist on Carol buying me a nice warm coat - she's already wearing one!

Well, Nobby, that Babet was a blast, eh what?! It looked to me like you would be more than happy to quite the posing and head off home again! Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx

  6. Those waves look fierce! You are very brave to stand out there, Nobby. We'd be afraid you might blow away if you weren't on leash. BOL!

  7. My goodness, Nobby - you might have been blown to bits! Nice of you to do your part in picking up litter. I see the rainbow through the fencing. The third picture is especially good even though you are not featured.

  8. Thanks for braving the storm to share it. Our weather has not been that bad, but it was supposed to rain a lot yesterday and it was the neighbour's haunted walk and there was talk of having to cancel it, but while it drizzled earlier in the day and some in the evening late, it was rather nice during the actual party. Lady thinks the neighbour made a pact with the devil to get nice weather. Perhaps Gail could try that. Lee and Phod

  10. I hope Gail had her foot firmly on the other end of that lead Nobby. You looked about ready to lift off. Tell Gail that first photo of waves crashing over the harbour is fantastic - calendar-worthy. We trust that you got home again to blog about all this without actually being launched like a paraglider.

  11. Good thing you have that spiffy raincoat, Nobby! It protects from wind, too, we suspect.

That sure as one heck of a wind going on there. Yikes! We sure hope things will dry out and calm down!

  12. OMDs Nobby Babet was a beast if a storm. I have never seen such turbulent seas as theses. Well done on picking up litter bugs debris and Gail what a great quick snap of the rainbow.

  13. We are glad you got to get out of the house for a bit...We really enjoyed the picture of the rainbow and you with the trash BOL.

We are very impressed with your tolerance of the high winds and crashing seas...we don't think we could have stood still as long as you did!

  14. That wind was super crazy! You are very brave to venture out, but when a pup's gotta go, a pup's gotta go! My mom thinks that is one of the best thing about having a dog, you HAVE to venture out, no matter the weather!
