Blether (Scots)

Oh do please come and join me here. There's plenty of room. I can always find plenty to bark about and I love making new friends.

'Blether' (meaning according to the Scotsman newspaper):  A basic definition of the word blether is tricky - in colloquial terms, people usually know it to mean a lengthy chat between friends.

  3. I know the word blether, but to me it means the same as bloviator, as in blether on MadSnapper. Love the bench love Nobby and would like to sit and blether with both of you

    1. Gail says: blether does also have that meaning here, which I why, I think, The Scotsman stated that a basic definition of the word is tricky!

  4. I like the idea of a blether bench - rather like the buddy benches in school playgrounds, though I'm reliably informed that you don't sit on those because they make you look 'sad' - i.e: a 'loser'! Truly sad, really.

Well, Nobby, I'll join you as soon as it is pawssible!!! This very day I have been having a very grand blether with a true Traveller, his horse, Midnight, and his dog, Roxy. We went for a looooong walk - yes, nearly four miles according to his magic measurer... one of the true pleasures of the life is to have a sit down with friends or strangers and have a good yarn (that's the Aussie phrase...) Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx

  9. There certainly no lack of both blether and blather on the TV these days! Lots of banter, bother, and bloviating too! I think we'd prefer to sit on that bench outside with you, Nobby, and just chat.
