Imagine! Can you believe this? Bobby the cockapoo, whom I met in the park on Saturday morning, apparently had the notion I might be prepared to share my stick.
And when I made it quite clear, or so I thought, that I was not for sharing, he had the cheek to try to take it off me.
Have you ever been foolish enough to engage in tug-of-war with a terrier?
What chance would a soft-mouthed spaniel type with a gentle demeanour have against the jaws of a feisty and tenacious WFT?
We all know there will only ever be one winner.
sticks are not for sharing we stick with it ;O)

ReplyDeleteWell, Nobby, I am pretty confident that you thoroughly enjoyed the challenge Bobby brought! I mean, nothing quite satisfies as having a good sparring partner. Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx
We Terriers never give in or give up. Dream on, Bobby!
ReplyDeleteQuite right, Nobby. You had first dibs on it.
ReplyDeleteWhen we had three Jack Russells, they solved the stick problem - one on each end going forwards and the third going backwards in the middle, with lots of noise from all of them.
this is a fun post and we KNOW you won even without photographic proof. now I would like to see a video of jabblog showing 3 terriers one bone.. Happy Monday Nobby.
ReplyDeleteYou were lucky this time Nobby - next time your opponent might not give up so easily! My old Lab. Sultan would have fought to the bitter end (of the stick)!

Nobby what Bobby lacks in the game of tug of war he makes up for in determination.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of Terriers, Maggie the Australian Terrier and her Mom, Virginia, came to see us yesterday. I invited them in and OMDs Maggie's was in scent overload. Sniffin' like crazy. I had a beef roast cooking in the crock pot. I think she was trying to find exactly where the scent was located. She finally settled down at my feet looking longingly into my eyes for the answer.
Hugs Cecilia
PS meant to tell you I like the British version of Red skies .......
ReplyDeleteOver on this side of the pond we say 'Red skies in the morning, sailor's take warning, red skies at night a sailor's delight'.
Nobby, you could tell that spaniel thing to find it's own stick but that wouldn't be as much fun as wrangling over the same (best) stick.
ReplyDeleteWe're sure you were the victor in this stick fight...unless you managed to snap the stick into two pieces. It looks like you were enjoying the challenge though, Nobby.
ReplyDeleteNo doubt at all who would be the victor in this contest, Nobby but I think Bobby deserves an A+ for effort.
ReplyDeleteFortunately Rosie and Baby don't mind sharing a good stick. Toys, though, are a different matter! There have been plenty of tug-of-war battles for the squeaky toys!
ReplyDeleteSome pups just ain't raised right.
ReplyDeleteYou continue to be such. busy boy, Nobby! Sorry we are very behind in our visits and trying to catch up...
ReplyDeleteThat looks like great tug of war game...we bet you won, terriers, (and we know all about them, BOL!),are stubborn rascals!! Yes we are!
My goodness, that was cheeky to try and steal your stick! Tell him to get his own stick, dammit!
