One week on - puppy pandemonium

I expect you're wondering how things are going, now that I've been in my new home a full seven days.

So while Gail has been trying to interest me in spending quiet evenings watching University Challenge...

... my distinct preference is for early morning mayhem in the garden...
Tuesday morning, Nobby firing on all cylinders at 5:45 a.m.

Oh, and here are some more things I like:
  • My crate
  • Dragging things into my crate (including my unused night time puppy pads)
  • A tidy kitchen floor
  • Attention
  • More attention - tummy tickles and ear rubs especially appreciated
  • Cuddles on Gail's lap
  • Basking in sun puddles. Yes, the sun does actually show its face on occasion, here in NE Scotland...
  • Playing tug of war with my lead. And anything else my sharp little puppy teeth can grab
  • Violent tussles with Sophie Snow Leopard
  • Pretending I want to pee or poo so I can go out into the garden again
  • Using my puppy teeth to crunch leaves and twigs. Or moss. Or Gail's hand.
  • Meeting new friends - so long as they pay me lots of attention, of course

And a few that I don't:
  • Helicopters flying above our house
  • The puppy kibble Gail bought for me. ("But Bertie used to love this stuff"...)
  • The dog flap (Gail: "We're working on it")
  • Holding my "Good Sit" for more than a nanosecond...

Socialisation programme going great guns

Well it's a good thing that Gail has me around to tidy up the kitchen floor (see Friday's post) as we've had a series of visitors over the past few days, all eager to make my acquaintance.

According to a rather intimidating chart* Gail was given when she took me to the vet for my first set of vaccinations last week (I was a Good Boy, by the way), I am supposed to develop my social skills by meeting the following types of people over the next few weeks.

I asked Gail to tick the relevant boxes for those whom I've now met, but she says some of her friends might read this blog and get upset about how they were classified.  (Middle aged? Elderly?)

One of the friends took these pictures of Gail and me. I totally wasn't showing off. I am Nice Nobby, always!

Oh and I'm told my readers will know whom to blame for the bags under Gail's eyes...

*Gail says: this chart actually has thirteen categories of experiences Nobby is supposed to encounter as part of his 'Weekly Socialisation Programme', of which 'meetings with people' is just one. (Although, given that this is 2022, I find it a serious omission that the chart neglects to list 'developing a social media presence'!)

Throwing one's toys INTO the pram...

I like a nice tidy kitchen. Don't you?

Gail (my human) says this is an odd trait in a puppy not yet nine weeks old.

But really, would you want to live somewhere with toys strewn all over the floor?

Such a mess! It took me most of the morning to clear the place up.

Sophie Snow Leopard put up stiff resistance but I managed to wrangle her into my crate and subdue her.

And with Pink Spotted Moo Cow sorted, my task was complete.

Do you think I need a bigger crate?

PS from Gail: You'll see I've now added Blogger's 'Followers' gadget in the right hand sidebar for those who wish to keep tabs on Nobby this way.

Nobby says hello

So here I am. Nobby. Standing on the shoulders of giants. Or so I'm told. First there was Hamish the Westie. Then there was Bouncing Bertie

Will I be 'Nice Nobby' or 'Naughty Nobby'?

Time will tell!

We can at least be sure that I am an eight week old puppy from Craigmancie Wire Fox Terriers, just settling in to my new home with Gail in Aberdeen. Right now I'm feeling a little overwhelmed, and missing my litter mates Olaf, Tilly and Biddy. But I'm pleased I was allowed to bring Smelly Tigger with me.

Oh and by the way, I want you to know that I share a birthday with Scotland's bard Robert Burns and with the Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskiy.

I'm looking forward to making lots of new friends and I hope you'll be following my adventures...

Toodle-oo for now!
