Being a hale and hearty 2 years and 8 months old, I am of course well capable of tramping a few miles into the wilderness under my own steam, although the occasional stop to admire the mountain views (and hopefully score a treat) is perfectly in order.
Our destination on this warm end of August morning was a wee beach beside Loch Gaineamhach, a nearly three mile walk starting from the village of Kenmore. Gail visited this beach with my predecessor Bertie in December 2019, and she had mentally tagged it as a fine spot for a swim on a warm summer's day.
Today was that day.
So that's our loch in the distance.
And here we are at the little beach.
First I went in to test the water while Gail changed into her swimsuit.
So clear and clean and refreshing!
Gail found the water a bit chilly but claims she would have stayed in longer had she not spotted me back onshore grabbing one of her socks and making off into the heather with it.
Can you see here I am still clutching the sock tight, despite Gail's insistent cries of "leave it Nobby, leave it!".
I did eventually relinquish my prize, and with Gail fully dressed again, we happily made our way back to the car in the warm (20ÂșC) sunshine.
We didn't see anyone else on the path except for Spider and his nice human.
Didn't have you down as a sock thief Nobby, what were you trying to convey to Gail? Saving her from hypothermic shock perhaps? That looks like the best place in Scotland to go for a swim on a sunny day. (And I suspect that even when you are 13 years Gail won't be transporting you in a backpack.)

ReplyDeleteWell, Nobby... what a wondefurs place! Though I think that Gail may have to consider tucking all her clothing into a zipper bag in order to prevent any further thievery incursions! Still just that bit naughty, eh? Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx
pee ess; Fabby new blog header! Yxx
Delete....where did my main comment go????? Is it in spam already???? mmmmmmmmmbloggerr,,;;;sshhhhl;.....
DeleteWhat a gorgeous spot for a swim! I hope you returned that sock to Gail, Nobby! Spider has the best ride of all and he is so cute!
ReplyDeletenow this is a spider I could love... so precious, and I also love your sunlit furs in the header shot. I am now smiling at the thought of Gail having to return home with only on sock to wear. Good boy for giving it back. that is a gorgeous place to visit.
ReplyDeleteThat is a glorious place on a sunny day. Even so, loch water can be soooo cold. I think Gail is very plucky.
ReplyDeleteI loved seeing Spider on his master's back.
Spider is such a cutie and how nice of his human to let him tag along on his bike rides. What a beautiful and peaceful place for a swim. Maybe next time Gail will keep you on leash and make you swim with her to prevent you from running off with her clothing. BOL!
ReplyDeleteWhat a glorious late summer day you and Gail enjoyed! High score on the sock nabbing, Nobby but very gracious to relinquish it.
ReplyDeleteWHEW that is my kinda of Spider. What a nice senior life he is having...in the company of his human.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful clear loch...it looks refreshing for the brave.
Nobby you are so funny stealing Gail's sock was that you way of telling her time to move on.
Hugs
Cecilia
That is probably the only kind of Spider our Mom would approach. How nice to get that backpack ride with his human. Umm, we have a sock thief here too (and an underwear robber too), and that would NOT be Timber:)

Hi hi hi! Ojo here! That looks like a very fine spot indeed! And a fine sock, too!
ReplyDelete'Was that sighting of the older dog the ghost of Nobby's future
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet boy Spider is and how lucky to be able to go everywhere with his human.
ReplyDeleteYou had a super time at the beach and how brave Gail is to go in the cold water, though we've heard it's all the rage and very good for you.
Love,
Paca xx
Nobby, Love that you played games with Gail and her sock. Perhaps now you need to train Gail the two words I used for my late Riley whenever he had something in his mouth (he was a retriever!) which were "Food", and he'd drop the object and run towards me (he was a retriever!) and "Trade" where he brought me his gift and I swapped it for food (he loved his food!) and lots of praise.
ReplyDeleteGail says: Thanks for the suggestion, but unfortunately Nobby, being of the terrier mindset, is more motivated by mischief than food!
DeleteWhat another wonderful outing you both had! Our mom is an obsessive swimmer and would love to have a chilly dip in that beautiful lake! So refreshing!

Being arachnophobic, even the mention of a spider gets me in a tizzy...but this little Spider looks like he is enjoying the fresh air and the scenery while he 's on his human's back. That is a thoughtful doggy owner to take his pup with him. So precious!
ReplyDeleteWhata pleasant place to have a dabble in the water and a swim, too! YOu are a rascal, Nobby, stealing that sock...at least it was a sock and not the underwear...BOL!
Benji:
Once I did steal petcretary;s undies and chewed them up in the backyard, BOL!!
We had a kitty here who would make off with socks and take them to the mat by the front door, BOL!
