Showing up my owner?

You won't believe what Gail said when she came home from her trip to Berlin with her American friend Marse.

"Oh Nobby, I am so relieved. Marse has been telling me all about her two year old rescue Kelpie DB*, who now lives with her in Tacoma. Apparently he can be quite badly behaved. So now I'm not so worried you'll show me up when Marse comes to stay here with us at the end of the month."

It's hard to imagine, isn't it, that I might in any way show Gail up?

Apparently DB (pictured below) barks and howls a lot in the car and at visitors, shreds a bagful of toys a week, pulls heavily on the lead, pees on the basement floor, demands attention all the time and commits any amount of mischief.

So totally unlike me, then.

Gail claims she had a good time in Berlin, despite not seeing any wire-haired fox terriers (I guess that's why she took so few photos).  She did see plenty of other dogs, often unleashed and calmly trotting along beside their humans, and she marvelled at the pups' obedience and excellent road sense. I guess it would be wrong here to bring up tired stereotypes about Germans, and by extension their pets, tending to be orderly types.

Meanwhile I, Nobby, had a wonderful stay on the farm, running around with my Craigmancie foxy relatives. I even was able to spend extra time with them as Gail couldn't pick me up early on Saturday as planned 'cos her car wouldn't start, but that's another story.

I guess I was pleased to see Gail when she finally got the car sorted, even if she uttered the dreaded word 'bath' the minute she set eyes on me...
That's me, Nobby, in the middle, with litter mate Biddy standing behind

*DB stand for Da Boss.

Well, Nobby, I guess with a name like that, the namer was setting up a reign of terror! No comparison to the reign of terrier ...😵‍💫 Hugs and wags YAM-aunty xxx

  2. Hello Nobby and Gail.
I'm Amber, and I've come to live with Carol, so I'm taking over comments from her. She has told me that you've just been away in kennels, so I hope you had a good holiday. We're waiting to hear how Gail enjoyed her time with Marse.
I'd better introduce myself. As far as anyone can tell, I'm ten years old and have all the looks and characteristics (isn't that a big word!) of a Pointer. Carol was quite surprised yesterday when I crawled along to her on my tummy! She said that I was so good at it that the SAS would be happy to have me, but I don't want to leave here!
So far my life has been very traumatic, and last Friday I didn't know whether I was on my paws or my head! I'd been in nasty police kennels for three weeks (just in case anyone came to claim me) after someone found me wandering in the orange groves in the countryside. They think I've been a hunting dog and then abandoned when I was no further use, so I was left to fend for myself. It was a very sad time for me. However a lady at a dog rescue saw my police photo and thought I would be perfect to live with Carol. So here I am - we finally arrived home (it's my home too now - isn't that lovely!) quite late and I had a scrumptious dinner, and some treats. I couldn't really relax, I felt I should just keep an eye on things here. Yesterday we went for a walk by the sea and met some friends for coffee, who thought I was absolutely gorgeous. Carol says that's a very big compliment.
Anyway, I've just had the dreaded bath, which wasn't too bad - the water was nice and warm and the shampoo was special Aloe Vera for dogs. Carol says I smell much better now!
I'm looking forward to reading all your news Nobby - Carol says you have a wonderful life with Gail!
    Love,
    Amber xx
    P.S. from Carol
She's the sweetest little girl and so much smaller than Inca and Indy. She also has the gentlest mouth of any of the dogs I've had. I'm hoping she's as happy to be here as I am to have her.

Golly, welcome, Amber!!! I think you need to work on Carol and get her to make a blog for you so that Nobby and I and others here can share your life too!!! You really have fallen on all four paws coming to stay with Carol, of that much I am sure. Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx

  3. Hi Amber and Carol,
Thank you for this lovely introduction. Amber, you sound like the perfect dog for Carol, and Carol, I'm so pleased you have found such a fine companion. Nobby is impressed by the SAS skills and Gail is very impressed that you allowed Carol to bath you.
We are so much looking forward to getting to know you better.
    Toodle-oo and Cheers!
    Nobby and Gail.
PS Nobby was once again given a glowing report by his breeder Alex. I feel a bit guilty that I don't have a pack of foxies for him to run around here!

  6. It's fun to be with a pack of your friends and relations, Nobby, but it's good to be home, even if you did have to have a bath. I'm sure you'll be a model of behaviour when Gail's friend comes to stay - it will be a good model, won't it?

  7. BOL BOL BOL Nobby at least Marse recognized early on the perfect named for DB. He is quite handsome. I hope by the time Marse returns to Tacoma she finds that he has mellowed a bit.
Sorry Nobby I always try to be on your side!!! This time I side with Gail you definitely needed a bath...maybe two.
What fun Marse will be staying with you and Gail too
    Hugs Cecilia

  9. As the beloved person of some sort of rescue Kelpie/cattle dog, Lady feels what DB's Lady does as it sounds like DB and Lee would have a lot in common. Please tell DB's Lady it will get easier . . . in a decade or so. We are glad you had a nice time away Nobby.

  13. Well, Nobby, that's a lot to talk about! I'm glad you had fun with your siblings, even though you needed a bath afterwards. And were glad Gail had a good visit to Berlin. It's also good to meet your new friend DB. Hopefully he'll learn some manners soon.

  14. Well, I have missed some fun posts!
Wow you sure got yourself rather into the mudpies while you were having fun with your doggy furmily. Were you digging or rolling?

Anypaws we hope you have a great week ahead and stay clean to avoid baths.
