Faulty Feet / Perfect Paws

I can only conclude that human feet are poorly designed.

My dear human has been complaining about how she bought herself a new pair of supposedly robust and high quality hiking shoes less than a year ago and the soles are now wearing out and the uppers coming apart at the seams.

And she says it's the fault of a certain adorable young wire-haired fox terrier.

Apparently my "high exercise demands" are to blame.

Well I would like to point out that my own perfectly formed paws have had no need of expensive footwear, and can easily cope with longer and longer daily walks in all conditions, absolutely, no problem at all.

Perhaps Gail should try going barefoot?

  1. Well Nobby, those boots look pretty well worn to me, but we walkers know nothing is as resilient as a young dog's paws. I seem to remember that your predecessor, Bertie, had trouble with his paws as he got older.

    1. Gail says - Bertie had severe problems with 'interdigital cysts' between the age of 5 and 7, due, it turned out, to his overly compact feet. Happily this was resolved rather simply, by assiduous attention to paw washing and he was free of paw problems in later years. I note that Nobby's paw pads are more spread apart and so I hope this won't be an issue for him.

  2. we agree with you... our paws have even air pillows so we can walk on all grounds... the mama has 87millions of shoes and not one pair is the perfect one. there are two what are close: meindl ohio lady 2 gtx and the adidas trailmaker mid gtx ;O)

Well, Nobby, there is no denying a dog's paws are among the prettiest and most practical of nature's creations! Knowing many places where walking barefoot is the norm, I do think there is something in Gail's comment of frustration. Sadly, Scotland is not really one of the places where this can reasonably be done, except, pawhaps, in the month of June! Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx

  5. Pretty paws! Most human feet are better kept under wraps, but hiking boots should last a good while - and they're not cheap.

  6. Beau has hug paws and pads. Beaus mama goes barefoot at home and in the yard, or did until old age set upon her. now she has to wear sandals because she keeps yelping when she steps on things that never hurt before. it is hard to find the right walking shoes and even harder to get them to last more than a year

  7. OMDs Nobby what gorgeous paws. So well designed and durable. Seems maybe the hiking shoe makers need to take a page out of the WFTPawdesignbook.

  8. We're sorry to hear about Gail's shoes wearing out so quickly. Your paws are so cute with your bi-colored paw pads.

  9. What lovely paws you have, Nobby. As far as I'm concerned, satisfactory shoes are as rare as hen's teeth.

  10. We are all admiring your lovely paws Nobby and you echo my observations on the weirdness of human feet and how they use them and what they wear on them. F saw a k9 like you pulling a human on skis across snow in Norway a few winters back - perhaps Gail could get some of those grass ski things on rollers (less friction less wear) and you could tow her along. xxx Mr T

  11. We do think a pus paws are built much sturdier. Maybe Gail can invent some kind of pawpad shoes!

  13. Nobby just read over at YAM aunty's Gail has a nasty head cold.
Bryan's always has his sinuses involved too. I hope it will disappear as quickly as it arrived.

  14. Now that certainly seems to us to be a very unfair judgment. SHE should be thankful that YOU keep her so well exercised:)
