Nobby - does Merin have permanently sticky uppy ears? We studied ears for quite a while in these photos and thought all WFTs had neatly folded ears like yours. Xxx Mr T
ReplyDeleteWell spotted M T! Merin does indeed have "sticky uppy ears". The official line on WFT ears is that they are supposed to be folded, but it's not uncommon to see ones like Merin's. Some WFT owners glue their puppy's ears down around teething age to encourage them to stay folded, but it's not clear that this works. Nobby has an Irish terrier pal with one ear up and one ear down, which we think looks rather jaunty.
DeleteMr T reckons Merin probably hears better but might have problems with dust in his ears (especially when chasing foxes down holes). He also says that ears are good for communicating with so humans ought to stop fussing with them.
DeletePlease be aware that Merin is a 'she'. (Gender recognition is a sensitive issue in Scotland right now...)
Deleteoooh terrrier and terrier te more the merrier... we would love to be there with you all! Merin reminds us of our whft girl... she had one batman ear too ;O)
ReplyDeleteHow delightful to see so many of the same 'family' together. Your photographs really made me smile. Nobby, you're really springy :-)
ReplyDeleteWhat fun times you are having with all of your Wire buddies, Nobby! That's a lot of energy in one place!
ReplyDeleteOMWFTs now that was a meet and greet of the best kind look at all those WFT tails heading down the trail.

to me the photos are amazing, seeing all of these terrors, um I mean terriers off leash and walking along together. I did not catch the ear until I read about it. well done on the Jumping Nobby. I would love to be there to watch the fun you all have together. like a coffee club or a tea party but no tea or coffee.

ReplyDeleteWell, Nobby, I am glad you got a starring roll in each of these shots and that video - as it rightly ought to be for your own bloggy! What a fabby outing you all had together, though. A joy to see. Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx
You terriers look like you were having a grand time romping and playing together.
ReplyDeleteNobby, what a delight to see you and all your terrier pals enjoying yourselves so much. I'm very impressed with your high jump - what a champ you're turning into!
ReplyDeleteLove,

Wow! What a lot of friends you have, Nobby! It was fun to see them all!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely delightful, Nobby! Well done on the high jump and I certainly hope there was a prize awarded! In a crowd of handsome lads and lasses, you stand out as well. (Rupert is also especially appealing.
ReplyDeletePlaying with friends by the riverside. What could be better?
ReplyDeleteWe need too tell our Auntie that there is a WFT with her name!! BOL!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun time you all had...including with wrassling! You are a good jumper, Nobby.
Petcretary doesn't encourage it with us because we tend to be jumper-uppers on her and pawppy...so we have to sit quiet like to get a scritch or a treat.
That absolutely looks like the BEST day ever! How fun for everyone and every pup involved!
