Gail is concerned that my Glen Tanar post last Friday gave a misleading impression of typical weather conditions in Scotland in November/December.
As a corrective, I offer you this shot from another walk last week, this one on Friday up the well known Aberdeenshire landmark, Bennachie.
Steve, the gentleman in the middle of the picture, brother of Imogen (in the red jacket), had come up from London for a family visit and had expressed a desire for a 'proper' Scottish hill walk.
On a clear day, from the summit of this hill you can see all of Aberdeenshire, from the North Sea to the Moray Firth to the Cairngorm plateau.
This was not a clear day. I could just about see to the end of my handsome WFT snout.
But Steve was at least rewarded with a genuine Scottish hillwalking experience...
Although we are not sure how genuinely grateful he was...
PS: By the time you read this, Gail and I should be comfortably snuggled up in the 'Hutch' with our dear friend YAM-aunty.
Well, Nobby, Steve could hardly hope to be lucky enough to have blue skies, sunshine and summer temperatures - not in December! Even we're not getting those at the moment.
ReplyDeleteYou look rather fed up in that last photo, but I'm sure that now you and Gail are very happy enjoying cosy snuggles with YAM-aunty.
Love,
Indy xx

ReplyDeleteWell, Nobby, although I have heard about this walk, the photographic evidence you provide is really rather good. And won't our readers be amazed when they see what weather you are experiencing here in the westy-west coast firth where it is every grizzly... (and capricious!) Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx
awaiting the post that will come to us from the hutch of our friend Yamini. we had 2 days of fog on the ground, and I almost lost sight of Beau at the end of his leash. but it went away in a couple of hours and bright blue sunshiny Florida came back.. no hills here, we need a few to keep us fit.
ReplyDeleteThose are two very different days! Enjoy your visit with YAM-aunty, Nobby and Gail!
ReplyDeleteThe weather might not be great but you all look like you were enjoying your walk.
ReplyDeleteBrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr I need a cup of coffee that looks chilly
ReplyDelete2 extra hugs coming to all at the Hutch
Hugs Cecilia

ReplyDeleteDear Nobby,
ReplyDeleteWhile you are snuggled up in the "Hutch' with Gail and YAM-aunty we wanted to let you know that it is now December, so Santa-Paws will be trying to work out if you are naughty or nice!
Christmas is a new concept to a young pup like you, and you might have seen Gail knitting you a big sock with your name on it. Look around the "Hutch" as there might be a tree inside with shinny things on it that you are NOT allowed to eat or water.
Going on holiday is always exciting and the chance to get up to mischief when you are young but remember all Yam-aunty and Gail's comments about you, and what is written in your blog, could be overheard or seen by the big red one which is not the one with the red nose who also may visit the roof of the hutch while you sleep. It is a magical time of the year, so your New Zealand friends wanted you to know now if you can be on your best behaviour and convince Gail and YAM-aunty to only call you "Nice Nobby" for the next 18 days there will be LOTS OF TREATS, TOYS, FUN AND SPECIAL FOOD for you on the 25th of this month.
Be a good boy Nobby!
xx
You live in such a pretty, and rugged region, filled with history.
ReplyDeleteA foggy day, but any day is a good day for a great walk!
