Keeping it simple for today's Nature Friday blog hop (hosted as ever by our lovely LLB Gang friends).
Here is a witch hazel seen in all its Halloween splendour in the grounds of Inshriach House.
And now for some birch trees. Who can get enough of their golden autumn beauty?
Sadly, a big storm blasted through Northern Scotland a couple of days ago and now we have almost no leaves left on the trees here. Do you still have autumn colours in your part of the world?
oooh you had a golden land for a while.... we had that storm too, and a lot of trees are nekked now....
ReplyDeleteThose trees look beautiful, Nobby. I've asked Carol if we get autumn colours here, but she says that it's very rare this far south. Up north they get proper seasons and falling leaves and snow! We just get dead looking leaves that fall off the trees in the streets and make a mess everywhere. Our Bougainvillea's and most other plants stay green all winter. The roses are still blooming and it's the third or fourth time this year!
ReplyDeleteLove,
Lindy and Carol xx
Your autumn colors are just gorgeous! We still have color but the leaves are falling fast and raking them up is under way.

ReplyDeleteWell, Nobby, I am impressed with that Witchhazel. Around the Hutch, it is virtually all Beech trees - though we have the cherry in the backyard. The colour has been limited due to all the 'weather' and that storm hit here on its way to you - some low down leaves remain, but only just! Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx
we love witchhazel and use it all the time. this is my first view of a WH tree. gorgeous. sad the gold and red did not last longer for you. no autumn colors here but we dont' get those. we do have cooler temps this morning that feel so good. Nobby, your furs look great with all that brilliant color surrounding you
ReplyDeleteLove that first photos showing how the red moves into the leaves. We had lots of color until Wednesday when we too had a ton of wind and everything came down.
ReplyDeleteWell Nobby my word I have never in all my 200 years seen Witch Hazel plant.
ReplyDeleteThank you. As always your handsomeness adds to each photo.
We are going to take a short road trip to Umstead State Park this morning to check on the colors there. I suspect they are about gone but we have such nice weather we feel we need to enjoy it before Old Man winter wakes up
Hugs Cecilia
