Sunshine in Dunoon!

First things first. Readers of my previous post can rest assured that, after Wednesday's Ilkley Moor peat bog adventure, I was dunked in the relatively clean water of a model boat pond before being allowed back in the car, and I later submitted - though not without a struggle - to a second rinse and shampoo in the hotel bathroom. Gail then finally pronounced me clean enough to accompany her for a bite to eat in the pub next door.

When we checked out of the hotel on Thursday morning I did wonder if the ablutions had really been necessary...

It was a bright morning for the drive from Ilkley to Dunoon, and as we drove though the beautiful landscape of the Yorkshire Dales with the radio on in the background, Gail was warning me not to get my hopes too high regarding summer weather on the final stop of our Tour of Northern Britain.

But then, at around 9:00 am, she suddenly interrupted her lecture and, most uncharacteristically, she punched the air and cried out "Yes! He's finally resigned!"

That little excitement over, my owner calmed down and continued on her earlier theme, telling me how it's almost always raining in Dunoon, and scarcely ever sunny. But she also said it didn't matter because we were going to stay with blog pal YAM-aunty and we were guaranteed the warmest of welcomes inside the 'Hutch', and would have a fine time whatever the conditions outdoors.

Well I'm pleased to report that Gail was absolutely spot on about the hospitality and totally wrong about the weather.

Gosh it was fun getting to know YAM-aunty.

I soon felt right at home in the 'Hutch'.

At night I settled down comfortably in my 'Hutch within a Hutch'.

I was delighted to provide moral support when our lovely blogpal needed to sort out a wee hiccup with her Chromebook.

I even found a convenient sunpuddle.

And talking of sun....

Can this really be the Dunoon area?

Where are the grey skies and the incessant rain?

Perhaps we should be grateful that Gail did not take up a career in meteorology.

Well, Nobby, what can I tell ya - Nature understood the need to lull a first timer into a false sense of riviera weather on the Clyde coast!!! Full cloud cover again this morning - though no rain, it has to be said. For now.

It was a truly super visit, wasn't it? I'll be repawting on Thursday... Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx

  6. Wow so much to comment on all in one post - starting with tartan carpet. F recalls Nobby's Nuts - there must be someone else out there called Nobby I guess. Muddy paws are one thing Nobby, mud all over is quite something else. In my view the best bit is you doing the Chromebook fix, but F says the great outdoors looks attractive and she'd be bouncing along in sunshine in that environment too. I don't believe her for a minute... plodding perhaps... paw smacks Mr T

  7. First things first...now that my eyes have dried out from the hysterical laughter after seeing a package of Nobby's nuts, I can address the wonderful trip news.
Bryan and I were wondering if a tub bath was in your future. We knew you were going to mete a very special friend.
Having personally been a recipient of YAM-aunty's hugs and cheerful nature I now how much you enjoyed your trip. You had wonderful weather.
Yesterday our weather blabbers informed us that our high of 73 degrees on July 10 set a RECORD. Lowest ever recorded was years ago and it was 75.
Thank goodness you were there to lend a paw to Aunty during her technical difficulties.
    Hugs
    Cecilia

What a wonderful time you had with YAM-aunty, that really was a home from home visit! Dunoon looks very nice in the sunshine - weren't you a lucky boy to see it at its best?

  10. You both looked like you had a wonderful trip to Dunnon and so lucky with the weather, I am so envious. Did I spot a trip to Blairmore? Did you venture into the tea room?

    1. Gail replies: Well spotted! We did indeed give some business to the nice tea room - it was ice cream for me and a chocolate milkshake for Yam.
