I hope all my friends had a wonderful Easter weekend, filled with excitement, happiness and treats!
I'll be honest, at first I didn't see the point of Gail spending all Friday morning baking a batch of hot cross buns.
Quite a faff really, for food I was never going to be offered on account of the currants.
But then things looked up as Gail loaded myself and the still warm buns into the car for the short drive round to meet black Labrador Blue and his family.
While Gail sat in the garden with Blue's humans, drinking tea and apparently* enjoying the hot cross buns, I was given a valuable lesson in how to behave around a big, boisterous (and very handsome) one year old Lab.
*I can't help but observe that Gail's Good Friday home bakes looked a tad less light and airy than the shop-bought variety. In fact I wondered if we might usefully send the remaining buns to that nice Mr Zelenskiy in Ukraine in response to his repeated requests for more ammunition, but I kept that thought to myself...
we like the buns, they look tasty... and we love that you made a new friend... it's so egg-citing to have so much "first times", when a puppy moves in ;O)
ReplyDeleteSeeing the photo of you with Blue, my human and I didn't realise how tiny you are, Nobby. Never mind, you'll soon grow into a big boy!
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter - I don't know why people keep saying that - it just looks like an ordinary day to me. They talk a lot about chocolate eggs but we doggies can't have any 'cos it's poisonous. We need a special doggy treats day!
Love,
Inca xx
Those buns look so yummy! You could have had a little bit that didn't include a currant. At least you had fun playing with Blue!
ReplyDeleteNobby first of all that last *sentence would ring true here. Should I bake biscuits (southern style) the would be more suitable for a hockey puck or air missile. Gail gets an A for 'a'ffort.
ReplyDeleteOMDs you are finally able to get out and about with to make K9 furinds. Blue is for sure a handsome specimen of Black Lab. The first photo of him is quite stunning. You made me giggle jumping right in like you were a Great Dane.
Size is a state of mind, how we see ourselves determines how others see us. Well done on your WFT -attitude.
Hugs Cecilia
Nobby, I thought the hot cross buns looked delectable, and 'twas quite a feat to make them!

ReplyDeleteWell, Nobby, a proper play date for you, what fun!!! May there be many more in your future. And for Gail, many more HCBs, for the proof is there, practice surely makes perfect. Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx

Blue is so handsome and I know he was impressed with how handsome you are too... play dates are fun and so are hot cross buns... reminds me of my mothers biscuits, she was an excellent cook and baker, but could not make a biscuit that was not like a rock. the other thing she could not make was fudge. it was the opposite, eat it with a spoon. so glad you both had an outing
ReplyDeleteNobby - how dare you? Those buns look fantastic (and between you and me the shop ones that are all air and nothingness are probably full of additives to make them into all air and nothingness). I'm going for some boiled egg next week when we have our Easter celebration. paw smacks Mr T
ReplyDeleteOur mom says those buns look very tasty. You sure had a fun visit with your lab friend, too.
ReplyDeleteWhat an exciting play date Nobby....I am thinking maybe those buns weren't quite so bad!

You did so good bossing around that big dog. I see a brilliant future for you.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like great fun playing with your new friend! And our Mom is impressed with the hot cross buns Gail baked as she does not bake at all, and wishes she could learn how! Maybe in retirement?

Blue looks like a great mate for summer play. And as for the hot cross buns, they look delicious. It is the taste that counts…..even if they need dunking in coffee or tea to soften….
