Late Autumn East and West

In Duthie Park, my friends are still bowled over by my handsome haircut, and the branches of trees are also bearing less weight, having mostly shed their leaves by now.

Gail's lovely friends Yvonne and Neil made the trip west to check that all is in order at our Torridon cottage and sent us photos of the autumnal scenes thereabouts.

Yvonne brought back the 'last flower of the year' from the cottage garden, and it's now adorning our breakfast table here in Aberdeen.

Happy Nature Friday!

Well Nobby, you still look fabulous without all the surplus furs... The trees just look nekked! Well done to Y for the lovely scenery shots and that bonny flower. Hugs and wags YAM-aunty xxx

  4. What good friends you have to look after you and Gail. The Torridon scenery is so beautiful and it's nice to have the last flower. Is it freesia?

  6. Are those silver dollars in the flowers there? Gramma loves those and has some dried ones she puts out. Fall is pretty much done here. It's been cold, with some snow, and now all the leaves need to be picked up off the ground. Have a fun weekend and you are looking mighty handsome with your furs.

    1. Yes they are 'silver dollars' (Lunaria) although here in the UK Gail knows the plant by the common name 'honesty'.

OMDs you look outstanding ....out standing amongst the leaves in Duthie Park
I know you and Gail were happy to have a glimpse of your Cottage in the fall.
Yvonne and Neil returned with a lovely stem of Silver Dollars for your table too.
Hugs to you and Gail from B&C

  10. The Torridon photos are beautiful (and, of course, so are you). The trim has given you a more dignified look. Growing up in Indiana we always called lunaria "money in the pocket."

  11. Here at 41.29 latitude, my young(ish) red maple (on the tree lawn) has been reluctant to drop its leaves, although its close neighbors are almost nude. I attribute this to its independent spirit, in a highly regulated little town, where leaf pick-up will end before the tree and I are ready. The thought makes me smile. Lovely photos, Nobby and Torridon, especially the flowers.

  14. You are still looking very handsome Nobby. Torridon looks beautiful and such a serene place to live, but perhaps it's a little too far from "normal" civilisation to live there all the time.

    2. Thank you so much for thinking of us. So far we are safe and just had heavy rain on the day that the towns in Valencia region had the devastating floods. The rest of the week has been warm and sunny until today. It looks as though we shall get some bad weather - the clouds are black and it looks like rain again.
We hope Gail is recovering well and you are being a very good boy Nobby.
Love from Paca and Carol xx
