Midge season

The flowers in our Torridon cottage garden are looking particularly pretty just now.

Such a fine backdrop for a WFT portrait.

Gail wants me to point out that maintaining such a haven of beauty for me to enjoy does require some effort and sacrifice on her part. Especially during the height of the Highland midge season....
Gail prepares for a session of grass strimming

Happy Nature Friday.
(Midges are 'nature' too!)

Well Nobby, even Eden had it's downside! At least your lovely furs protect you from the Scottish scourge. Hugs and wags YAM-aunty xxx

  2. What a beautiful garden - more power to Gail's elbow and strimmer! Somehow we don't expect to see such a colourful array of flowers so far north.

  3. Gail's strimming outfit made me laugh out loud. Sensible precaution, though.

  4. Your flowers are just gorgeous, Nobby, and we feel for Gail as we have horribly pesky gnatBugs here that will not leave us alone on our walks in the heat and humidity.

  5. Beautiful flowers for a handsome fellow to pose with. As for the bugs and all, that is really no fun for furs or humans.

  6. we have them here and they are a horror. the closer to salt water they are not bad, on fresh water they are hatefull. we call the bigger ones sand gnats and the smaller no seeums. now I know Midge as they are. I read the article. ours had been RARE until bob dug out the weeds from around the house when he pated the outside, now they are killer and if we take to long to get in the door they come in the house. they do bite. and they love hot sweaty body's. we found a house we wanted to buy near the water, but when we went to view we had the top down on the Corvette and when we stopped we were smothers by clouds of midges.. we left and did not view the house.. your flowers are gorgeous

  7. Morning Nobby and Gail.
OMDs the blooms are gorgeous and your portrait is a show stopper.
I watched a documentary on Iceland last night. It was filmed in August and eviddently their high Midge season too.
Gail you are prepared for whaterver nature throws at you...rocks, twigs or midges in the sky.

    Love it

  8. You sure have lots of pretty flowers in your Torridon garden, Nobby. That's quite an outfit Gail must wear just to cut the grass.

  9. We don't know which nature photo we like better, the first picture of the flower with the ocean in the background or the last picture of Gail, the Weed trimming Midge escaper!
