Not the highlight?

You would think, wouldn't you, that meeting a wire-haired fox terrier called Nobby would easily be the highlight of any animal loving visitor's stay in Scotland.

But apparently not.

It seems that for Gail's friend Helen, up here for the past week, I come a poor second best behind the puffins perched precariously on the cliffs at the RSPB's Fowlsheugh Nature reserve, the golden eagle spotted soaring over the Applecross peninsula, the otter swimming near the southern shore of inner Loch Torridon, the pine marten who scampered across the road just up from Gail's cottage, and the playful dolphins showing off to spectators at the harbour mouth in Aberdeen.

I want you to know that I waited patiently and quietly while Gail and her young friend trained their binoculars on the cliffs and Gail tried - with limited success - to take pictures of the puffins on Saturday morning.

To my mind, these puffins are anyway over-rated in the cuteness department, and have much to learn when it comes to sitting still and posing nicely for the camera...

  3. Don't worry about it, Nobby. It's just that humans sometimes need a little diversity in their lives, and are over-awed by something they don't often see. You are a constant, and they (and we) know just how wonderful you are.
This morning Carol and I rescued a baby hedgehog that must have fallen in the pool - the poor little thing was panicking to get out. We got the net to fish it out and put it on the bank below the garden. I then had to watch my human while she prepared some bread and milk and gave it some water. She's been back a dozen time to make sure it's OK, which is over-kill to my mind, but that's humans for you! It's the first hedgehog I've seen and they are such prickly characters, I don't know what all the fuss is about..
    Love,

    1. Gosh Amber, all that fuss about something so prickly...
Gail and I were both concerned to read about Carol falling over the other day and hope that her wounds are healing. Gail says to tell Amber to be careful and not make her topple over again.
      Toodle-oo!
      Nobby.

    2. Yes, thank you, Carol's wounds are healing nicely, but with a mega black eye she's not a pretty sight - but then she never has been!
      Love A xx

  7. All those other creatures are interesting, and some are cute, but nobody could hold a candle to your handsomeness, Nobby.

Well, Nobby, all I can say is that I am a bit jelly green that Gail and Helen got to see the Puffins... But am equally certain that you win in the cuteness stakes! Hugs and wags YAM-aunty xxx

  11. Nobby we just have to live with the knowledge that humans are easily distracted - but they do generally know how to find their way home and back to the things that love them and look after them. paw smacks Mr T
